What is Philosophy?

Philosophy, etymologically, is the love of wisdom, traced back to Pythagoras. Heidegger said that Philosophy is wisdom of love.

Traditionally, philosophy has been regarded to have a distinctive role; evaluating and interpreting one’s life experiences in all levels. Meanwhile, contemporary philosophers, such as Wittgenstein, tend to think philosophy as an activity, rather than a system of knowledge, which science is.
